Investigations are continuing into a fatal road accident near Cooktown late last week.

Police understand a 56-year-old Edmonton man lost his life on 7 February in the single-vehicle crash.

The man was driving on the Mulligan Highway at about 11.10pm when his car left the road and rolled over a number of times.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
