The Douglas Netball Association had a successful sign-on day last week as players dusted off their sneakers and recalled their ball skills after a long off-season.

Junior netballers had a skill development session before forming new teams to play friendly matches, which will continue over the next few weeks in pre-season training.

Association president, Sharon Beechey, said numbers are looking promising after the first sign on day.

“We are hoping to finalise our teams this week but are still welcoming any new sign-ons,” she said.

“We are taking team and individual nominations, so even if you don’t have a team we will help you find one.

“We have also introduced part payments for our fees this year to make it easier for everyone to get involved,” Ms Beechey said.

Budding players will have another chance to join the association at the second sign-on day tomorrow, Tuesday 19 February at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre.

Friendly matches will be played on the day in both juniors and seniors, allowing all teams to build and develop skils in anticipation for the 2019 season set to begin 19 March.

For those 12 years and under, sign-on starts at 4.00pm and runs through to 5.00pm, 13 to 17-years-old sign-on will run from 5.00pm to 6.00pm and for seniors between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.
