Alexandra Range major roadworks to cause delays to Cape Trib

Motorists on the Cape Tribulation Road and Alexandra Range can expect delays from Friday while Douglas Shire Council undertakes repairs on a large section of the road.
The emergency works are to reinforce and repair a section of the road that was badly damaged during the deluge over the Australia Day weekend.
An email circulated to residents and businesses of the area states work on the road will be undertaken from 6.00am to 6.00pm, seven days a week, until complete.
Traffic controllers will be in place to manage traffic flow and residents and other motorists are asked to be patient while the roadworks are underway.
The full scope of works are expected to take about six weeks but this timeline may vary with unpredictable weather and the potential of further landslips.
Traffic management will be in place for about to weeks and updates will be provided via an LED variable message sign at the Daintree Ferry as well as online.
The email states council will be working hard to ensure the works are complete before Easter but resources are stretched thin due to disastrous weather across Queensland.
It also states with the risk of further landslips and the potential of further damage, work is too dangerous to undertake at night.
