Seeking someone to build Mowbray croc-watching jetty
WANGETTI TRAIL
The Department of Transport and Main Roads are calling on tenders for the construction of the pedestrian bridge and croc-watching platform at the Mowbray River.
The project forms part of the 94km Wangetti Trail biking and hiking trail set to be built between Palm Cove and Port Douglas.

The tender documents are available online to eligible businesses interested in taking on the project.
The works include a new pedestrian bridge and underpass, viewing platform and demolition of the old Captain Cook Highway bridge substructure.
The Old Mowbray fishing jetty was removed in February 2016 after inspections revealed a risk of catastrophic failure due to damaged girders and poor condition.
Construction on the new Mowbray River crossing and the portion of the trail north to Port Douglas is expected to be completed by mid-2020.
Tenders close Friday 30 August 2019 at 2.00pm with interested businesses needing to lodge their tender online here.
The $5.7 million ‘Mowbray North’ section of the Wangetti Trail also features a 2.25km mangrove experience boardwalk and 5km walking trail to Four Mile Beach.
