One arrested following a drug raid in Cooktown yesterday

A drug raid in Cooktown yesterday has resulted in a 27-year-old man being arrested and charged with a number of drug related offences.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the Green Street address at around 2.30pm and two people were detained.

The search allegedly located quantities of methylamphetamine, cannabis, utensils and other drug related paraphernalia. 

A sum of cash was also located and seized and will be the subject of further investigation.

The Cooktown man was charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug and one count of possession of drug utensils.

He is scheduled to appear in the Cooktown Magistrates Court later this month.
