Four days until the Variety bash rolls into Port Douglas

More than 90, pre-1989 cars and their colourful crews will complete their 4,300km drive over 10 days to raise funds for kids in need when they parade down Macrossan Street, Port Douglas for the finish of the 35th Variety Brydens Lawyers B to B Bash, on Monday 5 August.

You will be able to enjoy the spectacle of dress-ups and car decorations inspired by M&Ms, Avengers, frogs, mermaids, Disney characters and more as they finish their Outback adventure in Port Douglas at the Rex Smeal Park from 12.30pm.
The Variety Bashers will have driven on dirt roads and through creek crossings to visit 12 schools in regional Australia to deliver resources and equipment to help these kids overcome barriers to reach their full potential.
This year’s Variety Brydens Lawyers B to B Bash aims to raise more than $1.7m to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
The Variety Bash was inspired by Dick Smith in 1985 when he gathered a group of mates and drove through the Outback raising $250,000 in the first year. From this inaugural event a national Variety B to B Bash was established, along with Variety Bashes in each state.
Over the 35 years Variety Bashes have:
- Visited more than 220 schools donating equipment such as wheelchair accessible bubblers and playground equipment
- Given more than 12,000 big hearted Aussies an Outback experience like no other
- Covered more than 158,000km - equivalent to four times around the globe.
The 35th Variety Brydens Lawyers B to B Bash set off from Bondi and travelled the back roads to Singleton, Inverell, Miles, Emerald, Hughenden, Georgetown, Karumba, Chillagoe and Batt Reef, Port Douglas.
