Douglas Netball round 15 results and player awards

The Douglas netball season is heading into finals next week and competition is fierce.

Round fifteen for the seniors’, division one saw Crocs 1 go head to head with the Jets 1.

The final score did not reflect the ferocity of the competition, with impressive performances displayed by both teams however, the Jets 1 were able to get the points on the board, winning 44-33.

Best and fairest went to Jessica Eagle-Rowe who was also awarded players’ choice along with Hiromi Wall.

Then, the Cougars versus Young Guns game was a tough, hard-fought match.

The highly defensive game saw a number of intercepts resulting in turnovers throughout the entire match.

With the Young Guns and Cougars always putting up a fierce fight the Young Guns got ahead taking the win 48-34.

Best and fairest went to Nichelle Pitt who also received players’ choice playing a ripper game with great defence along with Lana Baxter also receiving players’ choice for her fast pace and excellent feeding.

In division two, Crocs 2 took on the Drifters.

The Crocs 2 put up a good match seeing Drifters fall below on the score board 34-28.

Players’ Choice went to Sharni Thomas and Renae Shapter.

Lastly, the Jets 2 and Young Diamonds match saw the Jets 2 put up a good fight.

The Jets 2 played excellent netball but the Diamonds come out on top, 38 – 27.

Best and fairest was Mercedes Ramsey while players’ choices went to Kacy Baxter and Bridgette Mynott.

In the junior competition, Miallo Allstars took on the Port Power in a nail-biter of a game.

The Port Power were just able to pull ahead to take the win 15-11.

Best and fairest was Mahana Davis who was also awarded players’ choice along with Paige Jenner.

The Young Sapphires and Strikers game was a fast-paced and highly contested match, with a number of turnovers.

Despite tough competition, the Sapphires were able to get the points, winning 20-11.

Best and fairest went to Hazel Kitto and players’ choices went to Tahlia Barnes and Piper Ottone.

Then, in the Dynamite versus Panthers match, scores were tight after the first quarter, with the score being neck and neck with the Dynamite taking the win by one point 19-18.

Best and fairest went to Niamh Zillfleisch and players’ choices went to Alannah McNally and Jaymi Burcombe.
