FINALS OFF TO A FIERY START


The Douglas Netball season started its first week of finals and the competition was as fierce as ever.

In the junior competition, the Lightning Strikes versed Port and with a strong start from the Lightning Strikes saw them take the win 19-6.

The Young Sapphires and Dynamite went head to head with a tight score after the first quarter but the end result saw the Sapphires take the win 22-11.

Finally, the Port Panthers took on the Strikers with a very close game which saw the Panthers take the win by 14-10.

The senior competition’s division one, saw the Young Guns take on Cougars again this week with the two top teams fighting it out with Young Guns taking the win 53-25.

Jets 1 took on Crocs 1 with the Crocs having a great second quarter, unfortunately this was the last round for the season for the Crocs, with Jets taking the win 35-28 advancing into the Semi Finals next week versing Cougars.

In Division 2, the Drifters went up against Crocs 2.

With these two teams always being neck and neck all season, this week saw the Drifters take out their first win for the season knocking the Crocs out of the competition 52-35.

The Young Diamonds showed their strength again this week, leading from start to finish, defeating the Jets 2 44-22.

Next week we will see the Drifters take on the Jets 2 in the Semi Finals, this will be a game no one will want to miss.

Next week will be our semi-finals, come on down to the Port Douglas Sport Complex and support our girls as they fight their way into the Grand Final! First senior game begins at 6:30pm.
