Disabled parking gives ease of access on Daintree River

EQUAL ACCESS

Victoria Stone-Meadows
Differently-abled residents and visitors to the north side of the Daintree River now have a dedicated parking space near the facilities to ensure ease of access.
Douglas Shire Council recently installed the designated disabled parking bay near the toilets after requests were received from the North Douglas Group.
The toilet block, which includes a dedicated disabled stall, was completed in December 2017, but no disabled parking bay was allocated at the time.
Cow Bay Primary Health Clinic Sister Michele Lamond said the new parking bat would make life a little easier for people living with a disability.
“This will now enable those visitors requiring Disabled Parking at the toilets close and safe access,” she said.
The new car space complies with the Commonwealth Disability (Access to Premises – Buildings) Standards 2010.
