TWO Cooktown men have been charged following and alleged serious assault on an employee of a local business.

Detectives charged a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old man after they allegedly punched and stomped on an employee at an Endeavour Valley Rd business on at around 5am on September 16.

The 37-year-old employee was assaulted after a verbal argument with the men before the pair fled the scene, it will be alleged.

The man sought treatment for his injuries at the Cooktown hospital. 

The 28-year-old man was charged with entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, assault occasioning bodily harm and attempted common assault.

The 26-year-old man was charged with entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and stealing.
