“To date we’ve received over 240 Crime Stopper files, of which 50 are of interest to investigators.

“However, we still need more information and even if you think your information is vague, or insignificant, please pass it onto us, and we can assess it. Sometimes the biggest breakthroughs come from the smallest piece of information,” she said.

Investigators are particularly interested in the following:

• Anyone that has used the Wangetti carpark at the southern end over the past month or so;
• If anyone has noticed anything out of the ordinary, or anyone acting suspiciously at Wangetti Beach or the local area;
Detective Inspector Smith on Tuesday has highlighted four key areas of inquiry. Investigators continue to appeal for information from the public regarding these.
• Anyone that had dealings with Toyah at Rusty’s Market in Cairns on Sunday, October 21 between 12md and 1pm.
• Anyone with dash-cam footage who were travelling on the Captain Cook Highway between the northern carpark and the southern carpark at Wangetti Beach on October 21.
• Anyone that used either the northern or southern Wangetti Beach carparks on Sunday October 21, or anyone that regularly uses them.
• Any family, friends, acquaintances or work colleagues of Toyah that have not already spoken to police, to come forward.

Detective Inspector Smith today released a photo of Toyah in the hope that it may assist with the investigation.

“Toyah was known to dye her hair from time to time and at the time of her death she had blonde hair.”


A crime scene remains in place at Wangetti Beach and an Incident Centre established at Cairns Police Station.
