Halloween shoppers can help flying doctors

PORT Douglas and Mossman residents are being encouraged by Woolworths and the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia to help support Queenslanders in need across the state when they embark on their Halloween shopping.
Halloween has become a popular occasion for Australian families and this year customers are invited to help other families when doing their shopping in the lead up to the day.
Local customers at Woolworths Mossman can play their part by simply adding a $1 Woolworths Halloween fundraising token to their shop from today until October 31 2018.
The funds raised will help the good work of Royal Flying Doctor Service in their ongoing efforts to support rural communities requiring emergency medical services.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.3 million square kilometres.
“We appreciate the ongoing support of Woolworths customers and team members across Queensland and northern NSW,” said Meredith Staib, CEO, Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section).
“Funds raised across this Halloween campaign will allow us to purchase vital medical equipment, which will help us deliver even greater health outcomes for people in regional, rural and remote Queensland.”
Woolworths Mossman Store Manager Kiley Brown said as kids and parents are carving out their pumpkins, selecting their scary costumes and getting excited for their annual Halloween celebrations, this year is extra special as it provides an opportunity to help other families at the same time.
“We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and are always overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers. We hope they can not only enjoy their spooky tricks, but also include a treat in the form of a token to help children and families across Queensland."
