GET your Lederhosen out, Oktoberfest hits Port Douglas this Saturday!

Hemingway’s Brewery is turning all things German as it brings back its Oktoberfest again this year.

Hemingway’s venue manager Chris Barber said they are gearing up for a fantastic day in a celebration of all things beer.

“We’ve brewed some German style beers, we’ve got a Marzen and a Dunkel, brewed especially for the event,” he said. “Steins are also available to buy here if you’d like.”

“We’ll also have 14 beers on tap, four of those are German beers plus our usual core range.”

After the success of last year’s Oktoberfest, Hemingway’s are extending the events hours, opening at 12pm and running right up until 12am and entry is now free!

The festivities will kick off with a German Oompah Band playing throughout the afternoon.

“We’re starting off with a five-piece band then we’ve got a 17-piece band coming in plus German dancers as well,” Barber said.

Prizes will be on offer for those best dressed in traditional Oktoberfest style and a Keg lifting competition will take place at 6pm.

“We have that every year and it's always good fun,” Barber said.

German street food will also be available throughout the day. The night will finish with a DJ from 9pm-12pm.
