TWO separate car accidents that occurred on Friday on the Captain Cook Highway has prompted a stern message from Port Douglas’ top cop.

The accidents occurred just north of Oak Beach and between Ellis and Wangetti Beaches.

Neither accident left the victims in a serious condition, however Sergeant Meadows said drivers should head the warnings.

“Clearly the arrival of a little precipitation has confused most of us, with people forgetting to drive to suit the prevailing conditions.”

Sergeant Meadows said that with the beginning of the wet season upon us, drivers should be extra cautious.

“Police would urge all drivers to remain vigilant when driving on northern roads, particularly since it has been a significant period of time since we have had any rain. The first rainfall after long period always mixes with all the oil deposited on the road over a long period and make them inherently slippery.”

“Take your time to ensure you do arrive at your intended destination safely.”

“Drive to Survive!”
