Mossman State High School has continued to dodge questions surrounding a video of a fight filmed on school grounds last week.

The school declined to give an official statement to Newsport on Tuesday referring instead to the Queensland Education Department.

The school has remained tight-lipped about the incident despite calls from concerned parents for the school to issue an official statement.

The 30-second video surfaced last week and shows one girl being dragged to the ground by her hair before being punched and kicked repeatedly by another girl.

Police confirmed the 15-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment following the brutal attack. 

A 15-year-old girl from Cooya Beach was questioned at Mossman police station and was subsequently charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage.

The video has been shared widely among the community on social media since it was recorded.

In a prepared statement, the Queensland Education Department detailed the current anti-bullying programs available at the school.

However, the department declined to comment if any disciplinary action is to be taken against the girl who instigated the attack.

“For privacy reasons we cannot comment on support or discipline measures for individual students,” a spokesperson said.

Community members have since taken to social media to vent their frustration with the school’s silence regarding this incident.
