VOTING for the Newsport 2018 Douglas Business and Tourism Awards will be done exclusively online this year.

The aim of the awards is to celebrate and showcase the very best of the best in service and product delivery in the Douglas Shire.

Voting is now open and every business servicing the Douglas Shire is eligible to be part of the awards program.

Awards coordinator Irene Cats said the online voting model introduced last year was a huge success and switching to ‘solely online voting’ further streamlined the process.

“We received tremendous feedback from the new style of voting last year, which allowed customers to simply select from businesses already nominated and vote,” Irene said.

“With businesses making the ‘vote for us’ button available it means more customers and visitors will vote, which will make the program more exciting for everyone involved.

"Voting by choosing from a list of options makes life easier for our voters and increases the total number of votes."

Businesses who are not mentioned in their relevant category are encouraged to email irene@tourismportdouglas.com.au

Voting will close in late October with the winners announced at the Awards Gala Night in November (date TBC)

To promote people to vote for you, businesses are encouraged to use the ‘vote for me’ banners displayed on the awards voting page with a link to the voting form.

“We will also be sending out options to print stickers and table cards to place in and around your business,” Irene said.

“We had an unprecedented number of voters last year and we’re expecting another increase.”
