A 30-YEAR-OLD Bentley Park woman was intercepted yesterday carrying explosives and a weapon in a random patrol in Cairns yesterday.

Police were conducting patrols on Mulgrave Road at about 7.30am when they intercepted the woman in her vehicle and located a break action shotgun, ammunition, a quantity of methylamphetamine in crystal and powder form, glass pipes, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

The search was conducted with the help of a sniffer dog.

It will be further alleged the woman obstructed officers during the search and was handcuffed.

She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today to face a number of charges including possessing drugs, weapon, explosives and obstructing police.
