THE Mossman Hospital has received a $10,000 cash injection and the welcome funds are expected to go towards a special bed for cancer patients.

The local Friends of the Foundation group, a subsidiary of the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, received the cheque from Pink in the Tropics.

They money was raised at a recent golf tournament along with support from the Port Douglas Crocs AFL team.

Peter Le Griffon, Mossman Hospital’s Director of Nursing and Midwifery, said it is wonderful to see the community supporting the local hospital.

“This will assist patients who are at a stage of their treatment where they are limited in their ability to get out of bed.

“The bed has positioning and air cushioning features that help control pain, enhance the quality of sleep and makes caregiving easier,” he said.
