GOLF enthusiasts keen to give golf a go while helping out the community are encouraged to take part in the Raine & Horne Port Douglas Charity Golf Day tomorrow at the Mirage Country Club.

Funds raised will support the Port Douglas and Mossman Community Centres.

David Cotton from Raine and Horne Port Douglas said the event was formed after realising how many people in the area are struggling and rely on the community centres for support.

“The community centres give a helping hand to people who can’t afford to put food on the table, or pay their rent, or put fuel in their cars,” Cotton said.

“But the Community Centre also struggles financially and needs help.”

The two-ball ambrose event is open all skill levels. To enter you must book through the Mirage Country Club as places are limited.

Registration starts at 11am for a 12.30pm shotgun tee off. Cost is $30 for members and $50 for non members.

There are numerous prizes on offer throughout the day, including prizes for the first seven places, nearest the pin on all par three holes, and a $5000 hole-in-one prize.

A special thanks to the following sponsors for making the day possible:

Mirage Country Club, Mandalay, Newsport.com.au, Salsa Bar and Grill, Calypso Reef Cruises, Lady Douglas River Cruises, Quicksilver Connections, Tjapukai, Shaolin Junk Cruises, Mossman Hotel, Rattle and Hum Bar & Grill and Chilly Dog Refrigeration.
