FOUR teenage boys are assisting police with inquiries after they allegedly rammed a stolen car into a police vehicle in Cairns this morning.

It will be alleged earlier in the evening the blue Ford Territory was stolen from a driveway at Bayview Heights.

Around 2.30am police observed the vehicle on Gatton Street at Westcourt. The vehicle sped off and police did not pursue due to the manner of driving.

At 3am the vehicle was travelling northbound on Sheridan Street near the police station when it appears to have deliberately driven at a parked and unoccupied marked police van and also hit another private parked car.

Five teenage boys were seen to run from the vehicle, four were located by police nearby and one boy remains outstanding.

Investigations are continuing.
