THE Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay will pass through the Douglas Shire this afternoon.

The baton is scheduled to arrive in the Daintree Rainforest at 4pm today after passing through Ravenshoe, Atherton, Tolga and Mareeba.

Mossman’s Ethan Crees participated in the Mareeba leg of the Queen’s Baton relay today, which started at the Buckingham Palace on 13 March last year by her Majesty.

The baton is about to cross into the World Heritage-listed rainforest via the Daintree River ferry before moving on to Cairns tomorrow.

It will have travelled 40,000km through every state and territory by the time it arrives on the Gold Coast for the start of the games on April 4.
