MARIO Gonzalez is a video producer who wants to document the beauty of life.
Originally from the north of Spain, Mario is currently calling Port Douglas home and hopes to continue building up his video production company, IDN Mind.
IDN Mind creates visual projects for promotions, events, festivals and personal projects and Mario says he loves how a video can document experiences.
“It is just a beautiful way to show something in detail,” he said.
Mario has always had a curiosity about story telling and portraying the different aspects of the environment.
The self-confessed nature lover said he wanted to make films to further explore all the environments dynamics and capture its beauty.
“When I finished year 12 I had to choose what to do at uni. I was choosing between film making and physics,” he said.
While film is Mario’s passion he ended up completing a degree in physics with a strong focus on the environment, and film production remained just a side hobby.
“After uni however, my curiosity was still there and I wanted to continue in film.”
So Mario left his work in Spain to pursue a career in film production.
Seven months ago Mario visited Australia as a tourist but decided he wanted to stay and work here instead. While traveling to Bali to wait out his application for a working visa he secured many projects making promotional videos. What was supposed to be a short stay ended up as three months.

He eventually decided to return to Australia where he was able to land a job at a festival in Melbourne making promo videos and from there further jobs came in.
However, he soon decided it was time to move on as the city was too busy for him.
“People where rushing around without understanding why,” he said.
After talking to a friend who was moving up to Port Douglas the following day he decided he too would pack up and go with him.
After stopping in Byron Bay for a few weeks on the way, he decided it also didn’t fit so continued up the coast.
He has been in Port Douglas for just over two weeks and after arriving said, “it just felt like home.”
Mario now has visual projects coming in all the time, particularly promotional videos along with animated promos.
He also dabbles in photography, particularly of his favourite subject, the environment, as well as people, of which he loves a candid style of photo.
