AFTER four seasons and reasonable success, the town’s Moonlight Cinema is no more after QT Port Douglas decided to pull the pin.

A spokesman for the resort told Newsport today that the cinema was no longer drawing the numbers.

“The interest was no longer there and it was simply not getting the numbers,” he said.

Although located on QT’s property, the cinema and concessions was a separate entity and privately run.
The cinema was unique to Port Douglas and the other QT resorts.

Although it’s “business as usual” at QT Port Douglas, they are still reeling from last week’s adverse publicity when they were labelled “being unclean, a cheap run-down motel, falling apart and having bad service” in a news.com.au article which went worldwide; and the sale of the property.

“This has been an issue we’ve had to deal with, but we’re continuing with our daily business,” the spokesman said.
