THE expected opening date for the Craiglie service station is now slated for July 11 after being hit by a number of delays.

According to Steven Cooke, Operations Manager/OHS Manager, Rampage Properties Group, site operators had hoped for a late June opening, but some delays cropped up.

“The most critical factor has been an unexpected delay in the delivery of the fuel dispensers.

“The interior of the new shop is essentially complete. Exterior painting, branding works, and landscaping will be completed at a leisurely pace over the next three weeks given the unexpected delays,” he said.

Cooke said the Service Station’s new employees have commenced training at BP Cairns Central so they are fully prepared for an early July opening.

BP Port Douglas, which is a privately owned and operated small business, will trade 24 hours and offer fresh food and barista coffee.

The new site was originally slated to be United Petroleum before the BP announcement last month.
