Crocodile precinct to get major upgrade

A MAJOR upgrade is underway at the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas.
Tourism operator CaPTA Group is continuing its heavy investment in the town with a ‘multi-year project’ at the local favourite.
Phase one commenced in the wetlands habitat last year and is near completion, including a new tree kangaroo exhibit, stork walk pathway extension, a rejuvenated koala presentation area and a new roof on the Curlew Café.
The second phase is now underway, and will focus on the crocodile precinct which will dramatically enhance current enclosures and improve the overall guest experience.
This involves the successful capture and temporary relocation of the park’s nine freshwater crocodiles.
CaPTA Group Research and Development Manager, Andrew Hearn, is overseeing the projects and said he is looking forward to the continued improvement of the attraction.
“It is an exciting time for the Wildlife Habitat as a local iconic experience, with many improvements launching over the next few months,” Hearn said.
“Our commitment to the customer experience is at the forefront of this project, and we look forward to adding on to what is already an exceptional experience.”
