BEER lovers rejoice.
Hemingway's Brewery will celebrate its second birthday with an action packed weekend at the waterfront venue from Saturday.
Port Douglas’ first micro-brewery flung open its doors in 2016 and quickly became a tourist draw thanks to its local brews, tasty food and breathtaking views.
“I don’t think there is a brewery in Australia with a better view than Hemingway’s in Port Douglas,” said venue manager Chris Barber.
And he’s probably right.
Hemingway’s has established itself as the flagship business at the Port Douglas marina and has recently expanded into Cairns with a larger brewery at the Cairns cruise terminal.
They will celebrate their Port Douglas success with live music over two days from Saturday, headlined by the hugely popular Lyrical.
“He is an amazing musician and we encourage everyone to get down and see him,” Barber said.
“He was a massive hit at the Seafood Extravaganza and we’re expecting a lot of people to come back and check him out.”
The lively Drewboy and the Sax Addicts will warm things up from 5pm, while on Sunday they’ve enlisted a ‘guest smoker’ for their birthday celebrations to prepare the smoked meat platter for lunch (brisket, pulled pork, chicken wings and burnt end sliders.) Live music will also be playing from midday with Tane Tankorangi and Cam Kettle.
Barber said it had been an amazing response since they first opened and their brand ‘was constantly growing’.
“Its all about the beer, obviously the more we can get our name out there the better, and having two quality venues now operating only enhances our brand,” he said.
“The beer is forever evolving, and now with the venue in Cairns we’ll be able to produce even more new beer.
“But the response has been constant in Port Douglas from the get go and really busy."
