A LOCAL tow truck service has issued a warning to four-wheel-drive enthusiasts after receiving ‘at least a call out everyday’ on the popular CREB and Bloomfield tracks.

Jake Thompson from Cooktown Tilt Trays said he would be attending a job on the Bloomfield Track just north of Cape Tribulation today which saw the driver suffer a broken leg.

It comes as a number of motorists have required emergency assistance through risky driving.

“We get at least a call out everyday,” Thompson said.

“We can travel up to 3,5000km a week sometimes relocating vehicles to Cairns and Townsville and as far up the Cape as we can go.”

The 71km CREB Track is widely regarded as one of Australia's most breathtaking and starts just north of Daintree Village. The Bloomfield Track is popular with tourists and runs from Cape Tribulation to Cooktown through the Daintree National Park.

Thompson said it was imperative that drivers didn’t rely solely on GPS navigation devices or google maps.

“People should always seek local advice about local track conditions before attempting them,” he said.

“Sticking to day time driving is a must because so often these accidents occur at night.

“The other thing is drivers must be prepared to wait, as even a small problem with a part can mean you’re going to be stuck for a while.”
