PORT Douglas tuned up for a home clash with rival South Cairns this Saturday with a 160-point thumping of Cairns City.

As expected, the Crocs simply had too much class on every line for the bottom-placed Lions.

Midfielder Pete Bury returned to his busy best and was supported brilliantly by Josh Lea, Wes Glass, Brett Meredith and Calum Sheils.

Captain Kye Chapple received silver service further afield to finish with nine goals to take his season tally to 62.

The dangerous Adam Gross also bagged three to continue his strong from in front of goal. He has 39 for the season.

The 29.21 (195) to 5.5 (35) win sees the Crocs improve their percentage to 275.22 per cent, almost 20 percent better than ladder leader Cairns Saints.

They face the Saints in a top-of-the-table clash in a fortnight’s time, but not before they meet the Cutters at home this week in a clash that always has an edge to it.

The third placed Cutters easily accounted for Central Trinity Beach on the weekend, and were not daunted by their opening round clash at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex when they pushed the Crocs to within 14 points.
