Crash closes southbound lanes on Captain Cook Highway

BREAKING
Police are still investigating the circumstances with regard to the cause of the crash.
EARLIER: A WOMAN is being treated in Cairns Hospital after her car crashed into a cement truck at Trinity Beach.
The motorist had to be cut from the vehicle after it ended up on its roof. A detour remains in place and authorities say more delays are expected as emergency services clear the area.
EARLIER: POLICE and emergency crews are presently at the scene of a two vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of the Captain Cook Highway and Aropa Street at Trinity Beach.
The incident involves a car and a truck and has required both southbound lanes of the Captain Cook Highway to be closed.
Vehicles travelling southbound will need to detour by turning into Trinity Beach and travelling along Roberts Drive through to Reed Road at Trinity Park, and then re-joining the Captain Cook Highway.
No further information is available at this stage and further advice will be provided when available.
