Mystery of missing shipping container solved
COOKTOWN
A 30-year-old Cooktown man was charged yesterday following investigations into the alleged theft of a semi-liveable shipping container from land in October.
The owner of the container travelled to Starcke River, via Cooktown, and found it had been removed. The incident was subsequently reported to police.
Detectives from the Cooktown CIB commenced an investigation which culminated in the execution of a search warrant at an address on Jensens Crossing Road yesterday.
A container was allegedly located and seized from the rear of the property.
The man was charged with stealing and is expected to appear in the Cooktown Magistrates Court next month.
