It comes as a girl was rushed to hospital at Trinity Beach on Saturday after being stung by an Irukandji jellyfish.
Northerly winds are expected to hang around for the next few days at least, creating ideal conditions for the tiny marine animal.
“The status quo will remain in Port Douglas and we just want to remind everyone that they are around,” Lifeguard supervisor Jay March said.
“We had a poor girl stung on Saturday at Trinity Beach, we actually shut the beaches down for the rest of the weekend.
“It is still perfect conditions for irukandi and it’s expected to remain this week.”
Four Mile Beach remains open and lifeguards have been briefed on the potential for stingers. March said those choosing to swim should cover up if possible.
