FORMER Daddy Cool front man Ross Wilson has been announced as the headline act for a special concert at this year’s Port Douglas Carnivale.
Wilson’s Australian classic Eagle Rock is sure to be a crowd favourite when he performs in Rex Smeal Park on Saturday 26 May with his band the Peaceniks.
“He is considered rock royalty, and with more than five decades of performances under his belt and one of the most successful careers in Australian music history, it is not hard to see why,” said Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu.
Wilson also achieved huge success with Mondo Rock in the 80s and has produced records for the Skyhooks.
He will be supported by last year's Carnivale song writing contest winner, Luca Wile and the amazing good time party band. Tickets are $42 or $50 at the gate on the night.
Carnivale will return to a three-day format this year from May 25-27 and will also include the return of the popular Wonderland Spiegeltent.
Mayor Leu said Rex Smeal Park would once again form the backdrop for most of the event program that “showcased the community’s vision, colour and creativity”.
“Port Douglas Carnivale is truly a festival that celebrates everything unique and special about our region,” she said.
The traditional Longest Lunch, a ‘Tropical Magic’ themed street parade, family beach day and seafood extravaganza are all planned.
