TOYAH'S stepfather Darrin Gardiner has today taken to social media to express his extreme disappointment in the release of the most recent reports in the media and what he is calling complete ‘rubbish’

Mr Gardiner in his post says a detective with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) called him yesterday to say that a Sunday newspaper journalist was publishing a story on Toyah’s death.

In his post Mr Gardiner says that the QPS detective had said they were not sure what the journalist would be reporting as they had not provided any information to them.

Queensland Police, would not comment or respond to the latest speculation regarding the possible links to a male Indian nurse.

“Queensland Police have nothing further (to add) other than the investigation continues.

“Speculation surrounding developments in the investigation are not helpful and has the potential to jeopardise it,” they said today in a statement to Newsport.

To date, there have been no arrests since the 24-year-old’s body was found on Wangetti Beach – by her father during an organised search a day after she went missing – on Sunday October 21.

Since her death, community members from across Far North Queensland have staged searches at the crime scene in a show of solidarity and support for the deceased’s family.

A very disappointed Darren Gardiner said that this post may be his last.

Mr Gardiner’s full post can be found here.
