A 23-year-old woman from Port Douglas is facing drugs charges following a search of an alleged stolen vehicle in Yorkey’s Knob yesterday.

Police intercepted the vehicle on Sims Esplanade where the woman and a 29-year-old Earlville man were arrested.

A search of the car uncovered quantities of methylamphetamine, cannabis and drug utensils along with property linked to a burglary that occurred in Woree the previous night.

The car the pair were travelling in is suspected of being stolen from the same Woree property.

The man is expected to face eight charges including drug and traffic related offences, receiving tainted property and three counts of fraud.

The pair were each issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 11.

Subsequent investigations also led to the arrest of a third person, an 18-year-old man from Bungalow, who is believed to have been involved in the same burglary.

He was charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug and one count each of possession of a drug utensil, burglary and stealing of a vehicle.
