Drunk driver smashes car in Port Douglas

POLICE BRIEF




A Mossman man has lost his licence after drunkenly smashing his car into a light post on Port Douglas road early this morning.

Police were called to the scene at about 12.30am today where they arrested the 34-year-old male driver. 

The man was taken to the Port Douglas police station where he underwent an alcohol breath test and returned a reading of 0.175 per cent.

His licence was immediately suspended and he was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or a drug and is due to appear in Mossman Magistrates court early next month.
