Broken power lines leave Shannonvale powerless

Downed power lines left almost 100 Shannonvale residents without power for most of the day.
96 customers were effected by the outage that was first reported shortly before 11.00am and as of 2.00pm, 62 customers were still in the dark.
Ergon Energy could not say exactly how the power lines were damaged but said recent weather events were “probably” responsible.
“Crews will be restoring power as quickly as possible when it’s safe to do so,” an Ergon Energy spokesperson said.
“Ergon Energy advises customers to take care and stay Line Aware; If they see fallen power lines they should stay well clear, at least 10 metres away, and call 13 16 70 or 000.”
Ergon expect the power to be returned to the remaining customers by 5.00pm today with crews on-site working to repair the downed lines.
