Seniors take centre stage across Douglas Shire
PORT DOUGLAS
SENIORS Week will take centre stage from August 14-31 with events in Port Douglas and Mossman and will connect communities, provide opportunities for people to share and learn new experiences, discover services and support, and assist in reducing social isolation.
In alignment with the Queensland Government’s and Council on the Ageing (COTA), Queensland Seniors Week provides opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation, and enhance community connections.
Seniors Week aims to:
• improve community attitudes toward older people and ageing;
• facilitate community participation including those from Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
• enhance community connection and intergenerational relationships.
Funded by the Queensland Government, the program provides $100,000 to subsidise events and activities held during Queensland Seniors Week.
