LEADERSHIP SPILL: Scott Morrison to be next Australian Prime Minister
NEW LEADER
MALCOLM Turnbull has been dumped as the Liberal Party leader and Scott Morrison will become the new Australian Prime Minister.
The second spill against Mr Turnbull in four days has resulted in the leadership coup.
Mr Morrison will become Australia’s seventh Prime Minister in 10 years and is expected to be sworn in at Government House this afternoon.
It ends a week of turmoil and embarrassment in Parliament. Mr Turnbull is expected to quit politics following the result.
Mr Morrison won the leadership contest 45 votes to Peter Dutton's 40. Julie Bishop was eliminated in the first round of voting.
