FAR NORTH motorists heading towards Innisfail today should prepare for detours after a truck crash early this morning.

The Bruce Highway will be closed from 9.30am for several hours while crews work to remove a semi-trailer which overturned in an embankment north of Innisfail overnight.

At approximately 3am a truck was travelling north on the Bruce Highway when it has slid into an embankment on the opposite side of the road approximately, 500m north of Woopen Creek Road near Mirriwinni.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

While the incident occurred off the road, two cranes will be required for its removal and the highway will be closed for up to five hours as a result from 9.30am today.

Detours will be in place during this time for small vehicles, however, due to the nature of the detour roads, no heavy vehicles will be able to access the detour.

DETOURS:

- Heading North turn onto Eubenangee Road then on to Dinner Creek Road, Cartwright Road onto Bramston Beach Road through to Mirriwinni to continue North

- Travelling South turn onto Bucklands Road follow through to Eubenangee Road.

Drivers are reminded to avoid going into Garradunga as Jubilee Road is closed at Victory Creek.
