THE Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club hosted the North Queensland carnival over the weekend.

Hundreds of kids from Mission Beach, Etty Bay, Cairns, Ellis Beach and Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Clubs competed in glorious conditions on Four Mile Beach.

Please read below a few words from Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club Nippers.

Isabella Fielden, nine years old, says:

"The Port Doulas carnival was awesome. The Port Douglas teams tried so hard to make sure we all worked together and get a big win for our club. We had a lot of competition from the other teams but we also had a lot of fun. The U10's came second in the relay event but we were all proud of the effort that the visiting teams made, because it forced us to work harder and run hard all the way to the finish line."

Isaac Lukin, 11 years old says:

'On the weekend I competed at the Port Douglas Carnival. I liked it because it was fun and exciting. It makes me better and faster and pushes me to my limits. I like it because it gets me out of the house. It keeps me fit and I have lots of friends even with the kids I compete against. I competed and did every single race. My best result was fourth in the Beach Flags."
