PORT Douglas beer lovers at the town’s only brewery are doing their bit for battling farmers.

Hemingway’s Brewery is turning on their own taps in support of Rotary Australia’s drought relief campaign with a ‘Karma Keg’ pledging $2 for every sloop (schooner) sold.

Hemingway’s Brewery CEO and founder, Tony Fyfe, said they had been working on ideas to support local charities and community organisations but fast-tracked plans to support current drought relief efforts.

“The farmers plight is so urgent and felt it was important for us to be doing our bit to help,” he said.

The dedicated tap is in operation until Friday 24 August and will also be in operation at Hemingway’s in Cairns.

Rotary Australia has joined with the National Farmers’ Federation to spearhead fundraising across the country for drought relief.
