Port's best is yet to come: Chapple

AFL CAIRNS
- Unheralded Crocs shine against Tigers
PORT Douglas is expecting a committed Manunda tomorrow night in the AFL Cairns grand final replay, according to captain Kye Chapple.
The Hawks are coming off a 21-point loss to North Cairns in a match they were expected to win last week, while the Crocs freshened up after a 2-0 start with a bye.
Chapple said his team was looking forward to returning to the venue they’ve claimed the last two premierships. The Crocs ran over a brave Hawks outfit to claim the 2017 flag.
“The boys are up for this one” he said ahead of the clash.
“Obviously being the grand final rematch on their home deck, and they’re coming of a loss so they’ll be fired up.
"It should be a big game.”
The Crocs are still without ‘up to 10 blokes’ capable of playing senior football, yet it hasn’t seemed to worry them.
They were utterly dominant against the Tigers a fortnight ago and will expect another even contribution tomorrow.
Chapple, who has started the season in ominous form with 11 goals, said his team was still warming into the season.
“It’s a bit hard to say where we’re at right now, as last year’s side was one of the best I’ve played in,” he said.
“But we’ve got a lot of good talent that have come through our juniors at the moment, and I don’t think you’ve seen the best of Brett Meredith yet.
“We can only improve, and it’s good to see a few other blokes getting an opportunity.”
