Missing 60-year-old man found alive

BREAKING
- Search resumes at crocodile inhabited Chinaman Creek
A MISSING 60-year-old man has been found alive after a major search and rescue operation in Cairns.
Police feared the man, who failed to return home from work yesterday, may have been taken by a crocodile before he was located a short time ago.
He reportedly told family and work colleagues yesterday afternoon he was going to set some crab pots at the nearby tidal creek, which is a known crocodile habitat.
Searchers in a boat located the man in mangroves in Chinaman Creek. Police say he had become disoriented in the mangroves and became lost.

“He has suffered from dehydration and exposure to the elements and has been taken to the Cairns Hospital,” a police spokesperson said.
“Police would like to thank the media and all those who were involved in the search.”
Search and rescue personnel focused their efforts in a tidal mangrove area south of Redden Street, assisted by a helicopter search crew and officers from other agencies.
