NEWSPORT has turned blue and white this week for the Port Douglas Crocs, who will shoot for back-to-back premierships on Saturday in Cairns.

The Crocs have enjoyed a stunning AFL Cairns season and head into the grand final against Manunda Hawks undefeated.

The reserves will also play off in the decider against South Cairns in the earlier game at Cazalys Stadium, adding to what has been a remarkable year for the club.

“It’s been an incredible effort so far by our local team and we thought it was only fitting that Newsport turn blue and white for the week,” Managing Director Sam Cullen said today.

“The entire Port Douglas community is right behind the boys and we’re all hoping for two more wins in both grades on grand final day.

“Go Crocs!”

The Crocs major sponsor Rattle ‘N’ Hum and Paddy’s Irish Pub & Grill have been joined by Nautilus Apartments, M & R Kitchens and the Palmer Sea Reef Golf Course in getting behind the campaign, which will see the Newsport logo and banner remain blue and white for grand final week.

Hundreds of locals are expected to make the trip down to Cairns on Saturday with arranged transport departing from the Port Douglas Sporting Complex. Busses will leave from 10am, 11am and 12pm from the Crocs home ground for just $15 return.

“We hope we can get as many Port Douglas people at the game as possible in blue and white,” Crocs president Chris Bradsworth said.

“After the games we will head back to the Croc Pit to hopefully celebrate two premierships and all are welcome back at the club for drinks, music and food.”
