Clinical Crocs cruise into another grand final

PORT Douglas will meet Manunda in Saturday’s AFL Cairns grand final after the Hawks caused a preliminary final upset over Centrals Trinity Beach on the weekend.

The pace of the young Hawks proved too much for the more fancied Bulldogs at Cazalys Stadium as they ran away with a 33-point victory.

It completes a remarkable turnaround for the Cairns club, who only two years ago were banned from the competition for forfeiting a game against Port Douglas.

They’ve now booked their first grand final appearance since 2012 on the back of two incredible finals victories.

SCROLL FOR MATCH SCHEDULE

They hadn’t beaten the Bulldogs this year but turned on a blistering preliminary final display to triumph 15.13 (103) to 9.16 (70).

They’ll be out to continue their giant killing run this weekend against the undefeated Crocs, who are shooting for back-to-back premierships.
