WAYNE Walsh came out on top last Saturday at the Mossman and District Rifle Club weekly shoot from the 700m mound.

Carl Read had a good result with his new scoped Tikka T3 .223 rifle in his second round. Saturday went well in the Full Bore F Class and Target Rifle .308 & .223 inch categories on the day.

The regular shooters, Neil Attwood & Rick Mischlewski were competitive but Rick eventually inched ahead in Target Rifle. I joined in as a guest shooter giving Target Rifle another crack with the Club Mauser .308.

It was breezy at the mound but relatively still at the butt. Saturday was a warm, sunny but not too uncomfortable day at Mossman Range with slight mirage despite the distance.

Wayne faired very well with his shoot dropping only one. For me, even as a new shooter it was not a good day and I just couldn't get comfortable with an expensive total miss in the first round of 10.

Absent was Norbet Schmidt on the day, which is quite unusual for him.
