POLICE and the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection have conceded the human remains found yesterday in a crocodile inhabited creek in Port Douglas are that of Anne Cameron.

The 79 year-old has almost certainly been taken by a crocodile, with wildlife officers currently deployed in the area looking for the animal responsible.

Acting Inspector Ed Lukin and EHP Wildlife Director Michael Joyce addressed the media in Cairns today.

The physically active woman suffers from dementia and wandered off from her residence at the Ozcare aged care facility in Craiglie on Tuesday afternoon.

Markings have confirmed she ended up in a crocodile inhabited creek off the Mowbray River.

Police located clothing and a walking stick belonging to Ms Cameron yesterday, although it's believed she may have voluntarily removed them.
