SEASONED real estate agent Mark Flinn attributes a relaxed approach motivated by his passion for the beautiful Port Douglas area and superior knowledge of the property market, as major reasons for being selected to the A List of Queensland realtors.

The Licensee and Sales Manager at Ray White’s Macrossan Street office, had to meet rigid requirements before being placed in the top 150 from 18,000 agents in the state, and in the top 1% of agents in QLD.

Now in its fifth year, The A List is sponsored by Mercedes Benz Brisbane and data provider Pricefinder, who assessed every registered sales person in Queensland based on three criteria: the number of sales; the value of sales; and the number of listings from the previous calendar year. The list is completely non-self-nominated, making it the first of its kind.

In an interview with Newsport, the 17-year veteran realtor says there are a number of reasons why he believes he has been ahead of the pack.

“I believe it all comes down to consistency and honesty. I treat all buyers and sellers the same irrespective of their financial background, and with the same level of courtesy and respect that I would expect if I was in their position.

“I enjoy the challenge of helping sellers obtain the best possible price and guide the sale through to settlement. I also genuinely want to help the buyer find the perfect property within their budget,” he said.

Flinn believes a large part of his success is due to not being an owner-operator. “This was deliberate, as I believe when owning a business; you cannot focus 100% on assisting your vendors to sale. You get caught up with 30-40% of your time actually running staff and the business instead of selling.”

Flinn is in his 17th year of working in the local real estate market after starting as a cadet and within three years was performing at the highest level.

He is equally proud to be the longest serving agent in Port Douglas to be still operating from the same office where he started, which clearly illustrates his high level of loyalty and commitment.

Although no stranger to being recognised for his successes, Flinn is both humbled and overwhelmed by this award.

“Over the years I have been awarded numerous individual Ray White awards for high levels of sales along with continually reaching the Elite Performers status, which means I am positioned within the top 1% of the sales agent-force at Ray White Australia.

“This is a trifle overwhelming to receive this individual A List award. And to reflect that I have been operating at the same level as the top 150 agents in the state, especially when there are 18,000 licensed real estate agents in Queensland and most fellow recipients are based in highly populated area of central Queensland, is quite something,” he said.

Flinn also believes a self-driven approach is an absolute must within his industry.

“I don't have any mentors, but have connected with many interesting and accomplished people over the years, who I respect and admire.”
