THE awards voting program has again etched its place in the Douglas business and tourism landscape with over 40,000 individual votes already collected heading into the final month of voting.

The online and written voting forms will remain open until 4pm Friday 3 November with the deadline for returning printed forms the same day.

“Online voting has almost doubled due to so many businesses putting the voting option directly to their customers via their customer emails and websites,” said awards spokeswoman Irene Cats from Tourism Port Douglas & Travel.

"The ‘vote for us’ icons and graphics we made available for download have been well utilised.

Tourism Port Douglas & Travel also dedicated its masthead for during a six-month online voting push.

It's expected in the final weeks that businesses will rally their customers and peers to support their final attempt to be recognised for their year’s efforts.

Ms Cats said they were happy with the dedication shown to some of the new categories this year.

“It's always hard, but due to some categories not attracting enough votes new categories were added,” she said.

“The new best bar/wait service (individual) has brought a great amount of online support from the establishments enabling them to publicly recognise their amazing staff.”

In the panel awards, organisers have added the Lifetime Contribution to Douglas Business and Tourism Award and the Chamber of Commerce selected Excellence in Business Management Award.
