Motorists warned after thunderstorms and heavy rain

Police are warning drivers to be careful on the roads today after recent rain. IMAGE: Supplied.

HEAVY rainfall and thunderstorms overnight has forced local police to issue a warning to Far North motorists today.

Drivers are being told to take extra care on the roads and be repaired for rapidly changing road conditions.

The Mossman Mount Molly Rd has been closed as has the Bushy Creek Crossing.

There is flooding and warning signs in place at Liverpool Crossing, Mena Creek (Cassowary Coast), Little Mulgrave and the Gillies Range Road.

Motorists seeking to travel to the Cape areas are urged to check traffic reports before embarking on travel.

With thunderstorms expected to continue throughout today, drivers should monitor road conditions, drive to the conditions and obey traffic signs.
